The evolution of early liver biopsy findings in babies with jaundice may delay the diagnosis and treatment of biliary atresia

Early liver biopsy in jaundiced infants may show atypical histology that delays biliary atresia diagnosis and timely portoenterostomy. This retrospective study of 6 cases demonstrates that repeat biopsies can rapidly evolve to show characteristic features, highlighting the need for clinical vigilance when initial histology is inconclusive.
