Effects of partial internal biliary diversion on long-term outcomes in patients with progressive familial intrahepatic cholestasis: experience in 44 patients

This study reports outcomes of partial internal biliary diversion in 44 children with progressive familial intrahepatic cholestasis, demonstrating significant improvement in pruritus, jaundice, and sleep quality over a median 54-month follow-up. The procedure successfully preserved liver function and avoided transplantation in non-cirrhotic patients while eliminating the need for external stoma.
