Institutional Experience with Spiral Intestinal Lengthening and Tailoring
Topic overview
Five pediatric short bowel syndrome patients underwent spiral intestinal lengthening and tailoring (SILT), achieving 56% median bowel length increase and 50% diameter reduction without major complications. Significant reduction in parenteral nutrition requirements at 6 months with preserved liver function suggests SILT is a promising technique for managing mildly dilated bowel segments in SBS.
