The utility of magnetic resonance imaging in the diagnosis and management of pediatric benign ovarian lesions
Topic overview
Retrospective study of 18 adolescent girls demonstrates that MRI accurately differentiates functional from neoplastic ovarian lesions (93% accuracy) and directly influences management decisions in 74% of cases. MRI findings guided appropriate observation versus surgical intervention and enabled ovary-sparing resection in the majority of neoplastic cases.
