Topic overview
Retrospective Dutch study of 235 neonates with sacrococcygeal teratoma found associated abnormalities in 32%, most commonly hydronephrosis (16%) and hip dysplasia (4%). Altman type IV tumors carried fourfold increased risk of hydronephrosis. Authors recommend routine renal and hip ultrasound screening for all SCT patients, particularly those with Altman IV classification.
