Sutureless vs sutured abdominal wall closure for gastroschisis: Operative characteristics and early outcomes from the Midwest Pediatric Surgery Consortium

This multi-center retrospective study of 315 neonates with uncomplicated gastroschisis found that sutureless abdominal wall closure was associated with reduced anesthesia exposure, ventilator time, antibiotic use, and fewer infections compared to traditional sutured closure. The findings support sutureless closure as a potentially safer approach warranting prospective investigation.
