Surgical treatment of children and youth with congenital melanocytic nevi: self- and proxy-reported opinions

This survey study of 293 youth and parents examined surgical treatment patterns for congenital melanocytic nevi, finding high satisfaction rates despite no clear predictors of outcome satisfaction. Key motivations for surgery included psychosocial concerns and aesthetic improvement, with ongoing debate about optimal timing relative to child involvement in decision-making.
