Effectiveness of the Combat Application Tourniquet for Arterial Occlusion in Young Children.

This prospective study of 13 children ages 2-7 years demonstrated 100% successful arterial occlusion using the Combat Application Tourniquet on 24 extremities under controlled surgical conditions. The findings provide first evidence that commercial tourniquets designed for adults can effectively control severe extremity hemorrhage in preschool and school-aged children.
