Time course response of inflammatory markers in pediatric appendicitis

Retrospective study of 1391 pediatric patients evaluating combined WBC, neutrophil percentage, and CRP for appendicitis diagnosis. Triple marker combination achieved 99.7% sensitivity and 98.7% negative predictive value, potentially reducing unnecessary imaging and negative appendectomy rates compared to individual markers or subjective scoring systems.
