General complications after surgery for anorectal malformations

This article reviews general complications following surgical repair of anorectal malformations, focusing on the posterior sagittal anorectoplasty (PSARP) technique introduced by deVries and Peña in the 1980s. Despite four decades of refinement and global adoption, ARM treatment remains challenging due to anatomical variability and persistent short- and long-term complications.
