Surgical practice and outcome in 711 neonates and infants undergoing hernia repair in a large multicenter RCT: Secondary results from the GAS Study

Multicenter RCT analysis of 711 neonates and infants undergoing hernia repair found bilateral hernias more common in younger and female patients, with 68.9% patent processus vaginalis rate on contralateral exploration. Low complication rates (0.99% recurrence, 2.7% metachrony at 2 years) were independent of anesthesia technique used.
