Role of ultrasound in the follow-up of intra-abdominal testes post Fowler-Stephens orchiopexy

This prospective study of 28 intra-abdominal testes following Fowler-Stephens orchiopexy found that ultrasound modalities (conventional, Color Doppler, Power Doppler) added limited value beyond clinical examination in assessing testicular viability at 6-month follow-up. Doppler assessment was particularly unreliable in viable prepubertal testes, detecting blood flow in only 68-91% of clinically normal cases.
