Quantifying postoperative sleep loss associated with increased pain in children undergoing a modified Nuss operation

This prospective case series uses wearable accelerometers to objectively quantify sleep loss in children after Modified Nuss operations for pectus excavatum. Each 1-point increase in pain score correlated with 2.5 minutes less sleep per hour, providing evidence-based rationale for optimizing postoperative analgesia to improve recovery.
