Prenatally versus postnatally diagnosed congenital diaphragmatic hernia – Side, stage, and outcome
Topic overview
Multicenter study of 3,746 CDH cases (2007-2015) shows postnatally diagnosed cases have better survival (83% vs 65%) due to detection bias favoring smaller defects. When stratified by defect size, survival and ECMO rates are comparable between groups, with right-sided defects more frequently missed prenatally.
