Ileal Exclusion for Pruritus Treatment in Children with Progressive Familial Intrahepatic Cholestasis and other Cholestatic Diseases

This retrospective case series of 11 pediatric patients demonstrates that ileal exclusion achieved complete or significant pruritus relief in 73% of children with PFIC and other cholestatic diseases, with minimal morbidity and preserved native liver function over 60-month follow-up. The authors advocate for reconsidering IE as first-line surgical treatment.
