Perioperative Harm Index facilitates prioritization of improvement initiatives

This study presents a Perioperative Harm Index using 11 metrics to systematically identify and prioritize quality improvement initiatives in surgical services. The index enabled targeted interventions including reducing surgical site infections, postoperative nausea, and improving temperature management in NICU patients undergoing procedures.
