Pouchogram Prior to Ileostomy Reversal after Ileal Pouch-Anal Anastomosis in Pediatric Patients: Is it Useful in the Setting of Routine EUA?

Retrospective study of 60 pediatric patients demonstrates that routine pouchogram before ileostomy reversal after IPAA has limited diagnostic value in asymptomatic patients, detecting only one clinically significant finding among 40 patients with normal EUA. Findings support omitting routine pouchogram in asymptomatic cases to avoid unnecessary radiation exposure, while reserving it for symptomatic patients where it may provide diagnostic benefit.
