Long-Term Outcomes and Disease Burden of Neonatal Onset Short Bowel Syndrome

Long-term follow-up of 70 adolescents with neonatal-onset short bowel syndrome shows excellent survival (0% mortality) and 94% transplant-free outcomes, with 76% achieving enteral autonomy. Patients weaned from parenteral nutrition as late as 10 years post-diagnosis, though those remaining PN-dependent experienced higher hospitalization burden.
