Long-Term Outcomes of Laparoscope-Assisted Heart-Shaped Anastomosis for Children with Hirschsprung Disease: A 10-Year Review Study

This 10-year retrospective study of 198 pediatric Hirschsprung disease patients demonstrates that laparoscope-assisted heart-shaped anastomosis (LHSA) achieves lower rates of constipation and soiling compared to the standard Soave procedure, with significantly better quality-of-life scores. The heart-shaped technique involves splitting the posterior rectal wall to create a novel anastomotic configuration.
