Teenagers with obesity: Long-term results of laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding
Topic overview
This 23-year retrospective study of 59 adolescents who underwent laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding demonstrates sustained weight loss (mean 56-62% excess weight loss at 5-15 years) and high comorbidity resolution rates, with 30.5% requiring reoperation. Results suggest LAGB can be effective for teenage morbid obesity when combined with interdisciplinary follow-up.
