Undermining the Epidermis Around the U-Shaped Skin Incision Preserves Thick, Well-Vascularized Tissue that Effectively Prevents Posturethroplasty Complications
Topic overview
This study describes a modified U-shaped incision technique for hypospadias urethroplasty that preserves thicker, well-vascularized tissue by undermining the epidermis 5-7mm around the incision. In 207 patients followed for mean 6.4 years, the modified technique reduced post-operative complications from 15.5% to 0.9% compared to conventional approach.
