Systematic review comparing laparoscopic versus open inguinal hernia repair in children found equivalent recurrence rates and operative times. Laparoscopic approach showed higher wound infection risk but lower rates of ascending testis and metachronous hernia, with the advantage of contralateral exploration during the same procedure.
