Loop colostomies are safe in anorectal malformations

Retrospective study of 182 ARM patients found loop colostomy (94% of cases) to be a safe, technically simpler alternative to divided colostomy, with comparable complication rates including UTIs (21%) and prolapse (9%). The series demonstrates LC offers easier formation and closure without increased morbidity in this population.
