Interventional Radiology-Guided Procedures in the Treatment of Pediatric Solid Tumors: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis from the Group of Young Pediatric Surgeons of Europe

Systematic review of 21 studies demonstrates that interventional radiology techniques (embolization/ablation) for pediatric solid tumors show promising outcomes with low complication rates (6% major side effects). Meta-analysis of comparative studies revealed significantly improved 2-year tumor-free survival (82% vs 36%), reduced mortality (16% vs 47%), and shorter surgical resection times in patients receiving IR procedures versus standard treatment alone.
