Antibiotic ointment versus a silver-based dressing for children with extremity burns: A randomized controlled study

Randomized controlled trial of 96 children with extremity burns compared standard antibiotic ointment dressings to Mepitel Ag silver-based dressings. Ointment-based dressings significantly accelerated wound healing (HR 0.57, p=0.002) and reduced clinic visits, with similar infection and grafting rates between groups.
