Use of a magnetic double J stent in pediatric patients: A case–control study at two Canadian pediatric centers

This Canadian two-center case-control study demonstrates that magnetic-tipped ureteral stents (Blackstar©) can be safely retrieved in pediatric patients without general anesthesia, achieving 97.5% success rate. The technology offers cost savings, reduced OR time, and decreased anesthetic exposure compared to traditional double-J stents requiring cystoscopic removal under anesthesia.
