Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors during pregnancy do not increase the risk of Hirschsprung's disease

Swedish population-based study of 775,024 births found no increased risk of Hirschsprung disease in newborns whose mothers took SSRIs during pregnancy (3.3% vs 2.1%, p=0.372). This Level I evidence contradicts previous associations and provides reassurance for maternal mental health treatment during pregnancy.
