Adding Gauze Sweep Technique to Pit-Picking Procedure Increases Hair Removal and Lowers Recurrence Rate of Pilonidal Disease
Abstract
Pit-picking (PP) procedure has been used to treat pilonidal patients, with the main goal of removing all hair within the pilonidal sinus. We hypothesized that adding a gauze sweep (GS) technique (Fig.1) to PP could increase hair removal and decrease recurrence rate.
