Letter to the Editor: Integrating Mental Health Screening into Pediatric Trauma Care

Published: Reading: 1 min

Abstract

I would like to commend the authors of the article "Beyond Physical Injury: Routine Screening for Acute Stress Disorder and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder in Pediatric Trauma Patients – A Longitudinal Cohort Pilot Study" for their valuable contribution to the field of pediatric trauma care [1]. This study highlights a critical aspect of post-trauma recovery: the psychological well-being of pediatric patients. The results from the implementation of routine screening for Acute Stress Disorder (ASD) and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) offer compelling evidence that early identification and intervention can significantly improve the mental health outcomes for children following trauma.
