Deadly Rides: A 22-Year CDC WONDER Analysis of Transport-related Mortality in the Pediatric population (1999–2020)
Abstract
Transportation is a necessity in the modern world, with accidents causing major health problems and being of concern to health institutions. Nearly 1.35 million people fall prey to traffic accidents each year [1]. Transport accidents constitute a significant, yet often overlooked, contributor to childhood mortality, demanding focused investigation and targeted prevention strategies [2]. However, a knowledge gap persists regarding transport-related mortality among pediatric patients. Understanding the multifaceted factors contributing to child mortality is an urgent global health imperative, necessitating comprehensive analysis to inform effective interventions.
