Congenital paraesophageal hernia: Contemporary results and outcomes of laparoscopic approach to repair in symptomatic infants and children

Retrospective study of 28 pediatric patients with congenital paraesophageal hernia treated exclusively via laparoscopy demonstrates feasibility and safety across all age groups, including neonates. All 30 operations were completed laparoscopically with 7% recurrence rate, no mortality, and no need for esophageal lengthening over 36-month average follow-up.
