Do you have an ERAS protocol for colorectal surgery? Hi, I'm Cecilia Higena from Cincinnati Children's Hospital and I think this is an article that you should know about. This is a metaanalysis done in China that wanted to analyze the effects and safety of ERAS protocol for colorectal surgery in pediatric patients. And what did they find? They had 10 studies with 1,298 patients. And they found that ERAS protocol significantly lessened intraoperative fluids and postoperative opioid use. It also shortened time to bowel return and first enteral nutrition. As well as reduce hospital length of stay and hospital costs. So it seems that ERAS protocol are a need in colorectal pediatric surgery. Let us know what you think and stay tuned for more articles that you should know about.
