Cloaca - Surgical Management & Follow Up

Dr. Shumyle Alam, specialist inpediatric pelvic and urogenital reconstruction, presents oncloaca surgical management and followup. Dr. Alam discusses a case study of a cloaca patientmonitored throughout the course of her life. He covers topics onthe neurogenicbladder, bladder management, measurement of blood pressure andglomerular filtration rate. The second case presented involved a cloaca with a 2 cm common channel. The patient eventually acquired the need fora kidney transplant. Follow up management was discussed involving frequentultrasounds, annual measurement of GFR, and baseline formal urodynamics after 1 year of age in selected high risk cases.
