Do you have a critical airway response team for an esophageal button battery removal? Hi, I'm Cecilia Higuena from Cincinnati Children's Hospital, and I think this is an article that you should know about. This is a retrospective study done in Connecticut, and they wanted to evaluate if the implementation of a clinical management algorithm for the treatment of esophageal button battery could shorten the time between the chest x-ray and the button battery removal. And what did they find? They had 13 patients, six before the implementation and seven after. And they found that the implementation of the algorithm shortened the time from the chest x-ray to the button battery removal from 73 minutes to 35 minutes.
