This is an article published in the Journal of Pediatric Surgery and the objective of the study was to determine whether intraoperative change in body temperature is associated with postoperative infections in infants. 885 patients, who were younger than six months and have undergone different types of operations during a two-year period, were retrospectively reviewed. Hyperthermia, which was defined as body temperature higher than or equal to 38 degrees Celsius at any time during the case or immediately after the operation, was associated with a high odds ratio of developing surgical site infections within 30 days of surgery.
