Magnetic compression anastomosis (magnamosis) in a porcine esophagus: Proof of concept for potential application in esophageal atresia

Researchers successfully demonstrated magnetic compression anastomosis (magnamosis) for esophageal repair in a porcine esophageal atresia model. Using endoscopically-placed magnetic Harrison rings with external suture reinforcement, the team achieved patent, leak-free anastomoses in survival studies, suggesting potential future application in human neonates with esophageal atresia.
