Filling the gap: Objective data to guide pediatric surgery applicants who do not match on the first attempt

This study tracked 47 pediatric surgical subspecialty fellowship graduates from 2014-2018, finding 64% ultimately matched into pediatric surgery programs. Among non-matchers, critical care fellows were most likely to utilize their training skills in subsequent practice, suggesting it may be the most valuable alternative pathway.
