A new variant of type III jejunoileal atresia

Case report describes a novel variant of type IIIB jejunoileal atresia where the distal spiraled bowel segment was followed by 75 cm of normal intestine, allowing primary anastomosis with minimal resection and excellent outcome. Authors propose classifying this as type IIIC JIA due to its distinct anatomy and improved prognosis compared to traditional apple-peel atresia.
