In brief

This letter responds to a single-center study comparing robotic-assisted and laparoscopic cholecystectomy in pediatric patients with biliary tract disease. The authors acknowledge favorable complication rates while raising points requiring further discussion regarding surgical approach selection and outcomes.

  • Largest single-center pediatric robotic cholecystectomy series shows comparable safety to laparoscopic approach
  • Both robotic-assisted and laparoscopic cholecystectomy demonstrate low complication rates in pediatric biliary disease
  • Letter raises important considerations for interpreting outcomes in pediatric robotic cholecystectomy adoption
